An update has emerged on Leeds United forward Crysencio Summerville’s current situation ahead of the Premier League restart…
What’s the latest?
The winger posted a story on his Instagram on Saturday explaining that he would not be able to walk out with Josh Warrington for his fight due to his injury.
He stated that he picked up a “little injury” in the friendly clash with Elche but that it is “not too bad” and, at this moment in time, only ruled him out of being able to walk out with the boxer.
This comes after the attacker limped off against the Spanish side in the ninth minute after a collision with an opposition player forced him to withdraw from the contest.
Huge boost
Whites head coach Jesse Marsch should be delighted by this news as it comes as a huge boost to the club heading into the return of top-flight action later this month.
Summerville’s post indicates that he has not sustained a serious injury and this means that he is unlikely to be out for a significant period of time.
Leeds face off against Manchester City on the 28th December and then travel to Newcastle United on the 31st and the manager will surely be hoping that the Dutchman will be able to feature in those matches.
This update suggests that he has a chance of being fit for both games as he still has just over two weeks to get himself back to full fitness after his knock against Elche.
His availability would be huge for Leeds because of his recent form in the Premier League. The 21-year-old has scored four times in his last four appearances in the division – finding the back of the net against Tottenham, Liverpool, Bournemouth, and Fulham.
Summerville, who produced one goal and three assists in his last U21 outing for the club against Southampton, has proven that he can be a difference-maker in the final third with his inspired form in front of goal and that is why Marsch will be keen for him to be available.
Therefore, the American coach should be delighted by the fact that the winger has not suffered a big injury blow and that the attacker is only dealing with a minor knock between now and the clash with the champions.
