With just 18 months left on his deal, the London club could be wise to sell up while they still can.
ANDROS TOWNSEND
Spurs winger Andros Townsend is said to be a loan target when the New Year rolls around, having struggled to break into Mauricio Pochettino’s side and Euro 2016 on the horizon.
The England man would certainly suit the Swansea attack, further proving width though mixing it with an impressive ability to cut inside. It’s hard to imagine him reclaiming his place as Spurs look to create a new identity – so a loan move could be beneficial to all parties.
The 24-year old appeared to be involved in a bust up with fitness coach Nathan Gardner following the win over Aston Villa, adding fuel to the fire surrounding his potential departure.
Michael Keane
Former Man United youngster Michael Keane has been linked with a move to Swansea, after impressing for Burnley. The England U21 star has been a rock at heart of Sean Dyche’s defence, averaging 4.6 clearances a match.
With the backline looking leaky, Keane could easily slot next to Ashley Williams, and potentially be moulded into the Welshman’s long term successor.
He has also been linked with Everton and Newcastle, but Monk could swoop for the former Derby and Leicester man, with a £2m move mooted.
Eder Alvarez Balanta
Links with defensive reinforcements seem to be a recurring theme ahead of the January window for Swansea, with River Plate man Eder Alvarez Balanta reportedly lined up.
The Colombia international is a strong, imposing centre half with prowess in the air and equally adept with the ball at his feet, traits that would see him slot nicely into the Swans’ backline.
In the past, he has been linked with Barcelona, and Serie A giants Fiorentina are rumoured to be keen on bringing him over from his native South America.
Having had a relatively cheap summer, the Liberty Stadium outfit could be tempted to make a move for a top class defender in order to solidify their position in the Premier League.
Franck Tabanou
French defender Franck Tabanou has revealed he ‘cannot stay like this’, having only appeared in two Capital One Cup games so far this term.
Having arrived in the summer, the 26-year old is said to be frustrated at his lack of playing time and is set to reconsider his situation when the New Year rolls around.
The former Saint-Etienne man stated, ‘we will make a decision in December.’
With Neil Taylor currently first-choice in the left-back berth, Monk could see a chance to recoup some of the £3.5m shelled out for him just a few months ago, now he has publicly vented his frustration.
