Football FanCast brings you the latest West Ham United transfer round-up.
West Ham were made to settle for a ninth-place finish in the Premier League last season as David Moyes said goodbye, bringing an end to his four-and-a-half-year second spell at the club.
They were ultimately unable to replicate their success following the departure of Declan Rice to Arsenal, so the big task for new man Julen Lopetegui will be to excel in the transfer market in order to challenge for a European place once again in 2024/25.
Here are the latest transfer rumours coming out of the London Stadium.
Latest West Ham United transfer rumours Transfers in
Jhon Duran: West Ham have reportedly agreed personal terms with Aston Villa's Jhon Duran. It is thought that discussions are still ongoing over a fee, with the Hammers' latest offer totalling £35m. There were claims that Chelsea had agreed a £40m deal, but with the Blues flagging, West Ham could yet pounce.
Alexander Sorloth: Spanish sources are claiming that West Ham have approached Villarreal over their interest in striker Alexander Sorloth. Once of Crystal Palace, the Norwegian was the second-highest goalscorer in La Liga last term with 23, just behind Girona's Artem Dovbyk.
Kelechi Iheanacho: West Ham have their eyes on several strikers this summer, including ex-Leicester City ace Kelechi Iheanacho. Wolves are their main rivals as far as competition is concerned, while the fact he is a free agent makes the Nigerian a potential bargain.
Wesley Gassova: Reports from France have suggested that West Ham and Chelsea have both made moves for Brazilian winger Wesley Gassova from Corinthians. Little has been revealed by way of the finances that could be involved, but the Hammers will also face competition from the continent, with Nice among the other sides in the race for his services.
Georges Mikautadze: West Ham are said to have made an offer for Georgia star Georges Mikautadze – but they are far from the favourites to secure his signature. Monaco are the current frontrunners, having been the team most strongly linked to buy the 23-year-old from Metz following his impressive performances at Euro 2024. It is thought that it could take around £21m to seal a deal.
Matt O'Riley: The Hammers are among the growing number of sides interested in Celtic midfielder Matt O'Riley. Southampton and Europa League winners Atalanta are some of the other interested parties, with Celtic thought to be seeking around £30m to do business. It appears that Lopetegui and co have not tabled a bid as of yet, unlike the Dane's other suitors. However, neither the Saints' nor Atalanta's bids were deemed satisfactory by the Hoops.
Transfers out
Danny Ings: Southampton are seeking a reunion with former player Danny Ings, whose West Ham career looks set to end this summer. It is believed that a £6m fee is being thrashed out between the clubs, with the structure of the deal up for discussion.
Lucas Paqueta: Amid the Hammers' interest in Matt O'Riley, Lucas Paqueta's future appears to be pretty uncertain. Claims emerged last week suggesting that a return to Brazil with Flamengo could be on the cards, with the Serie A outfit hoping to get a deal done in the coming weeks – despite West Ham apparently ruling out a loan move.
Latest West Ham transfers 2024/25
Julen Lopetegui has wasted little time improving his playing squad, with over £60m worth of talent already injected into the team. Linking up once more with Max Kilman will bring some solidity to an area that was decimated by injuries in the previous season and has seen some departures over the summer. Luis Guilherme was the Spaniard's first arrival, so there is sure to be plenty of anticipation for his debut in the coming weeks.
Elsewhere, the Hammers have had a fair bit of activity in the other direction, with Said Benrahma's loan move to Lyon turning permanent marking their most lucrative piece of business thus far.
