Record signing Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold return to the team in place of Joe Gomez and Joel Matip, with the former missing out on a place in the squad and the latter taking his spot on the substitutes’ bench alongside the likes of Danny Ings, Dominic Solanke and Alex Oxlad-Chamberlain.
Liverpool supporters took to social media to give their views on Klopp’s selection, and while one said “are you serious”, another simply said “what is that”.
