Lassana Diarra has ruled out moving to the Premier League in the near future after declaring that he will see out his contract at Real Madrid which ends in 2013 talkSPORT understands.
The French midfielder has been linked with a move back to England for the last 18 months after playing only a bit-part role at the Bernabeu since the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United have both been credited with an interest in the 26-year-old with the former tracking him for host of the summer.
Boss Harry Redknapp was determined to capture his signature but eventually opted to sign Scott Parker after Diarra rebuffed any interest from White Hart Lane.He has again distanced himself from reports suggesting he’s s bound for a move to England claiming he intends to fulfil his current deal in Spain.
The former Portsmouth midfielder said: “I have a contract with Madrid until 2013 and would like to fulfil the commitment.
“Right now I only care about Madrid and our success. I am a player of Madrid. I will stay here until I finish my contract. My goal is to earn a place in the starting line-up and I’m working hard for it.
“When I finish my contract then I will consider other options. I know what I can [do] and I believe deeply that I can be an important player for the first team.
“We’re better this season and we narrowly missed out on the last Champions League. Madrid is also the favourite to win the league and I think this time we [will] get the double that we lacked last season.
“[We will] prove to Spain and the rest of the world that we are better than Barcelona and other Spanish and European teams.”
Aside from his short spell at Fratton Park Diarra has also spent time at Arsenal and Chelsea before making an £18 million move to Madrid in 2009.
